infographic marketing campaign

This article on launching an Infographic Marketing Campaign is written by a Guest Author.

I have recently been spending a lot of time understanding the best way to launch an Infographic Marketing campaign.

As part of this, I have been investigating what makes a successful infographic in the first place, and what elements its needs to include. This included evaluating who the audience was for various viral infographics and how they have responded.

Following on from this I also wanted to understand all of the individual elements involved with launching an infographic marketing campaign.

And there were quite a few things that I could infer from my experiments. In this post I am sharing my findings so that they may benefit others as well.

What is an infographic marketing campaign?

There are a few angles that an infographic marketing campaign gets used. One of which is an entire marketing program set out to support an infographic.

This would entail aiming to put your image in the eyes of as many relevant people as possible; with the intention of gaining web traffic as a result.

The other is using an infographic to supplement a blog or, a product release. This graphic can be used to attract people to the specific article or, landing page. This is more of a marketing supplement than the full product.

In either case, you can use a specific strategy (or simply just parts of) to get your infographic into the screens of the right people.

Strategy

So here is the strategy involved –

  • Firstly you need to release your infographic out into the world; there are two options for this.

The first is in the form of a social media release. We are looking here to leverage the power of social media to gain traffic to your content.

Think about who your audience is and what this infographic will achieve for them. With this in mind take the time to really showcase your infographic with a compelling headline and perhaps a sub-headline. They should include the types of keywords that your graphic should be associated with.

Also include a brief overview as to what exactly your infographic is. This should be short and snappy, including any key points or inviting facts.

  • You could also create a press release for your project. In fact people will often use the social media release as a way of publicizing the full release.

Within this you should make sure you include a very compelling headline, first line and first paragraph which will leave the reader needing to find out more. It is important to capture the essence of the infographic here. What does this solve? How will it help? Why should they want to see it?

  • Share your infographic via social media channels. I would look to roll this out into all of the channels that I promoted my service. Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest etc.

One strategy I have seen done well on Facebook and twitter is to schedule posts that will release a glimpse of information from the infographic. This serves as a teaser and builds curiosity before you release the final and the full infographic.

For example if there are 10 stages or facts, then release them individually, but with each post linking to the infographic.

  • I would without a doubt look to release my infographic to popular sharing services like dailyinfographic.com and coolinfographics.com to try and gain some traffic. There are a number of these services out there that you could release out to.

This has the potential to put your content into the largest audience number that you can.

  • Discuss your infographic release on your blog and via email to your list.

You can even send this to influencers to let them know it might be something they are interested in. It helps if you have begun to build up relationships with these people previously.

Forums can be another strong way to get your content seen. This is assuming you are an active member and not just seen as someone who self-promotes.

Round up

This strategy contains a number of elements which will help you get maximum exposure for your release.

You need the actual graphic to be right in the first place, the next step is to get it seen. Remember you do not necessarily need to create an infographic yourself either. I often use Fiverr to get these created in short time frames.

Your release may be a blessing in disguise for various contacts and bloggers who were looking for articles to review or products to share. By passing on your infographic you may well have done their work for them; all that’s left is for them to share.

Obviously not everyone will, but those that do share are supporting you on the journey to traffic and hopefully leads.
