Another list building post.. you may think!

One hard fact about internet marketing is that the basics just doesn’t change. So if you hear terms like list building, social media, customer engagement, sales funnel etc. you shouldn’t be too much worried. Because this is what Internet marketing is all about. These are some of the foundations of building a profitable online business and there is no way you can run away from any of these.

List building has got to be on the top of your to-do list, if you have one.. (if you don’t have one, it is high time you made one because you have to have a definite plan of what you are planning to do in your business).

While there is enough being spoken about list building and how to build a responsive list, there is still a lot of information that has not been shared until now. I should rather say, that there is a lot of information that is still to be implemented… until now. Most list building posts will rely on how to setup everything you need to build a huge list, but very few delve into the information on how to drive traffic to your offers in order to build a huge list.

On that note, I am going to show you how you can use social media to build a massive and responsive list.

List Building using Social Media

Social Media, I am sure.. you will agree is one of the most interactive platforms until now. There is a lot of engagement and involvement in almost all of the social media circles and it is hence that it qualifies with a GRADE-1, to build your list.

Building a list using social media has its own advantages. Unlike any other source, the people who join your list from social media are enthusiasts who are interested in the topic and who believe in engaging with like-minded individuals. These are people who will share good and valuable information with their friends and circles and at the same time will also share all the negative feedback as well.

On a constructive note, you can use the criticism to build your business and improve on what you are already offering. At the same time, all good information that is being shared gives the entire things a viral approach and your content and you as a brand will gain publicity much faster than you would ever expect.

How do you build a list using Social Media?

When it comes to social media, there are 5 platforms that come to your mind – Facebook, Twitter, Google +, LinkedIn and Pinterest. These are the ones that have produced proven results to a lot of people, primarily in internet marketing. So it is imperative that you use one of these platforms to build your list as well.

But for the sake of this post, we will be discussing Facebook and Twitter.

A straightforward method to build a list through Facebook is to setup a page in one of the tabs that has a squeeze page in it. While this is a good method, you might also want to explore the option of a “promoted post” or, running a facebook ad campaign.

Let us look at a detailed view on how to build your list using Facebook.

Tools to build you list using Facebook

Promoting to your Facebook Fans is the easiest and the best method to build your list. Your fans are more likely to give their email addresses to you because they are already fans of your product or, services. You can offer them some freebies for giving out their emails. Once you have your list built though, you need to ensure that you are building a nice rapport with them before you start marketing to them.

Here are some of the tools that can help you setup a nice little squeeze page on one of your fanpage tabs.

Shortstack – Probably the best app to create beautiful squeeze pages and other landing pages. Shortstack offers you a variety of features. Though their free version has limitations, it should be enough for you, if you are not looking for too much. But I would recommend that go premium if you are serious about using Facebook for list building. Click here for Shortstack

Pagemodo – Pagemodo is a very clean app, but I found it a little difficult to use than Shortstack. Pagemodo too comes with a lot of features and options but the fact that they do not have a FREE option means that you will have to with the lowest plan, at the least to use Pagemodo.

22s Social App – This is another great app, but most will turn away from it because of the hefty price you will end up paying. But if some excellent training can tie you up, then you might want to use this app. They run some decent training and webinars which is still not something I would take for such a high pricing.

GetResponse – Getresponse gives you an option of embedding your sign-up forms directly on a Facebook fanpage tab. If you are looking at something very basic and you are a fan of Getresponse, then this should solve your purpose.

If you are not finicky about running some nice posts with squeeze pages on it, then you are like me. This is one of my preferred way of capturing leads from Facebook.

FB Infiltrator – Nothing compares to FB Infiltrator, if you are looking at embedding signup forms into your posts. You can create beautiful posts containing videos or, pictures and add sign-up forms to it. You can do a lot of things with this nice little thing. Check out FB Infiltrator here.

Another preferred method for me to capture leads is to run Facebook ads. But one thing you need to keep in mind when you do this is that you have be extremely vigilant about your spend and you should continuously be tracking the performance of your ad. Else you might just end up loosing a lot of money.

FB Lander Plugin – The FB lander plugin has helps me setup some nice landing pages for the FB ads that I run. In order to get better conversions it is extremely important that you have a decent landing page and FB lander plugin helps you do that. Click here to check out FB Lander plugin

Building Your list using Twitter

Twitter has recently launched Twitter ads. If you are aware about native ads and the strategy to run such ads, then Twitter ads can be of help to you.

Once of the best features in Twitter ads is something called as “Twitter cards”. This is what Twitter cards does, according to their blog –

With Twitter Cards, you can attach rich photos, videos and media experience to Tweets that drive traffic to your website. Simply add a few lines of HTML to your webpage, and users who Tweet links to your content will have a “Card” added to the Tweet that’s visible to all of their followers.

Twitter cards can be a handy little thing if you want to build your list by running Twitter ads. These cards give you a lot of options be it building engagement, capturing leads or, promoting downloads and installs. Each purpose has a different card. You can use the lead capture card, if you are planning to build your list using Twitter.

I have had some decent success using Twitter cards to build a list. Hence I know it works. But you need to have a complete strategy on how you plan to capture leads, for it to be effective.
